College Group’s Llangefni Campus Welcomes 100s of Visitors to Community Event!

Staff from Grŵp Llandrillo Menai’s Llangefni campus were “thoroughly delighted” after welcoming hundreds of visitors to its summer community fun event!

The Community Engagement Event was a fantastic day out for all the family, with a host of exciting, high-tech learning experiences and workshops taking place to suit all tastes… from drone workshops to XPLORE slime and monster trucks! Everyone was given a free goody bag on entry, and one lucky person won a pair of Beats Studio earbuds!

The fun-filled event successfully brought together the people of Llangefni and the surrounding area, giving them the opportunity to find out more about Coleg Menai’s Llangefni campus. Visitors got the opportunity to visit a host of new facilities - the result of recent multimillion pound investments - and get a sneak preview of exciting plans for the future.

They also got the chance to speak to staff and take part in a range of STEM-related (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) activities including coding, robotics and engineering.

As well as the community initiative, there was also a careers event, which provided visitors with the opportunity to speak to, and get careers advice from, representatives from a wide range of organisations including the Fire Service and the Army, and many local companies.

The event was free, open to everyone, and aimed at: school pupils in the Llangefni area looking at their options for September; parents who wanted to visit the campus to view the facilities and speak to staff; local residents who were interested in what the college and local services have to offer; people who were interested in getting a job or starting a new career, and finally…families who just wanted a fun day out!

On the day, visitors tried out a whole host of exciting activities, whilst tantalising their taste buds with a wide range of delicious food options.

Highlights included: Bouncy Castles; Dr Zigs Bubbles; F1 in Schools; Drone Workshop; Ice Cream; Sports with Mon Actif; Building a Bird Box; Virtual Reality Activities and the Emergency Services - Fire and Police!
