College Students Gearing Up for Platinum Party at the Palace

Two members of staff and six students from Coleg Llandrillo’s Hospitality & Catering department are gearing up for the trip-of-a-lifetime, after being chosen to attend the upcoming ‘Platinum Party at the Palace’ at Buckingham Palace to mark the celebrate the Queen’s 70 years on the throne.

The main reason that the college has been selected is because in 2011 it was awarded a ‘Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education’ for “Delivering world-class excellence in hospitality at every level”. Coleg Llandrillo was the only college in Wales to be awarded this honour, and one of only three colleges in the UK!

The budding chefs attending next week are: Cai Williams from Denbigh, Rhian James (Llandudno Junction), Aaron Sherrington (Rhos-on-Sea), Heather Spencer (Llanfairfechan), Pippa Taylor (Bodelwyddan) and Alex Cawley (Llanrwst).

The ‘Platinum Party at the Palace’ concert will see some of the world’s biggest entertainers come together for a performance at Buckingham Palace. The event is set to feature an impressive line-up, including global music stars with a live orchestra, as well as actors from many a well-known film and TV shows.

Continuing the theme, the college also has a cake decoration student who is creating a platinum jubilee cake for her final assessment!
