MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) visit Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor.
A representative from one of the world’s best universities flew into North Wales recently to inspire Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor’s A-level students.
Audrey Cui from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) shared a wealth of information with Computer Science students during a learning and teaching session at the college. Audrey studies Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering, and works as an engagement officer within the university.
MIT has played a key role in the development of modern technology and science, and is one of the world's leading academic institutions. The Times Higher Education Supplement recognised MIT as one of the six best universities in the world, along with Berkeley, Cambridge, Harvard, Oxford, and Stanford. In 2019, it was ranked among the top 3 universities worldwide by SCImago Institutions Rankings.
MIT's alumni include 98 Nobel winners, 26 Turing award winners, 41 astronauts and tens of leaders of countries around the world!
During the two-day visit to Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor’s Pwllheli and Dolgellau campuses, A-level students were given the opportunity to learn about synthesis networks, machine learning, and a variety of deep learning problems.
